The Smoothline® Flush-Mount Wall Plate System
The patent pending Smoothline flush-mount wall plate system offers an innovative,
cost-effective method of mounting outlets and switches flush with the
wall for the ultimate in clean lines and modern sophistication.
Designed with the consumer and contractor in mind, the Smoothline system is easy to install and relies on common construction and finishing techniques. You or your electricians and drywall crew will understand the system after only a few minutes of instruction.
The Smoothline system is UL listed in the U.S. and Canada and meets electrical testing standards so contractors and architects can be confident in specifying our products.
The Smoothline system uses only three components:
Installation is integrated into standard construction steps:
1. Set the junction box: For 5/8” drywall, the face of the junction box should be 3/8” out from the face of the framing. For 1/2” drywall, the face of the junction box should be 1/4” out from the face of the framing.
Using an adjustable box can make this easier.
2. Attach and finish the flange: After installing the drywall attach the wall flange to the junction box using the included screws. We recommend using a spray-on adhesive to affix the flange to the drywall. Then insert the temporary cover and finish the Smoothline flange as part of the drywall finishing process. It's just like finishing corner bead. And the temporary cover means the junction box and wiring are protected during drywall finishing – no more junction boxes filled with joint compound.
Mount the wall flange flush with the drywall using the junction box screw holes.
Finish the wall flange just like drywall corner bead.
3. Paint the wall: Paint the wall and replace the temporary cover with the finish cover.
Smoothline® wall plates also work great with a wallpaper installation.
